Amer KhubraniIndiana Black Expo’s Family Fun Zone gives families reason to travel, visit and celebrate at during its Summer Celebration. On Saturday, many families come from out of state to the Indiana Convention Center.
Cynthia Jones, Chicago, comes every year with her daughter and grandkids because it will leave them with good memories, Jones said. Arthur Black came from Kentucky with his 8-year-old daughter, 11-year-old son, brother and sister to attend Black Expo for the first time in 15 years. The Fun Zone encourages parents to bring their kids to have fun and learn, Black said. James Brown, also from Kentucky, came back for the first time in 16 years. He wanted to share the experience with his two children. Judith Samson, Gary, has come for the past four years to Black Expo. She believes that the event is a celebration of culture and history. Elisha Littlejohn, a schoolteacher in Cleveland, Ohio, came with her daughter for the first time this year, for a family reunion. “The thing over here (in Indianapolis) you can’t find anywhere, it’s very unique and well priced,” she says. “I’m not sure I can get her off here.” |
